What is a Foot Health Care Professional?

This is a question I regularly get asked.

So, Chiropodists who perform chiropody and Podiatrists who perform podiatry are both qualified to degree level and both are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). These two titles are also protected by law and these professionals are qualified and insured. Both these professions diagnose and treat conditions of the lower limb. Treatments will include the use of surgery, orthotics and, biomechanics. Some professionals will also specialise in certain areas for example, paediatrics, sports, vascular, and acute diabetic care.

With regard to Foot Health Practitioners (FHP) we are qualified and insured professionals who carry out all the essential foot health maintenance treatments including corns, callus (hard skin), diabetic foot care, nail cutting, general foot care, verrucae, fungal infections and athletes foot to list a few treatment areas. Where we encounter other conditions, we will either refer you to your doctor or recommend visiting a Chiropodist or Podiatrist.
